Zero Energy Design

The predominance of poor energy-performing buildings in the city of Delft reveals the necessity for the development of more conscious constructions. This project identifies, evaluates, and redesigns an 80's student building complex. Thus, this development's architecture and technical solutions intend to create a Zero-Energy building design.
The student housing renovation along the Oudraadtweg could allow for more synergy between the undesired student flats and the neighborhood. Creating new opportunities for waste heat sharing or even a neighborhood electricity/heat production cooperation. Lowering the environmental footprint of the entire neighborhood by balancing the higher energy intake of the ‘special’ buildings throughout the area.
